Vaginal & Urinary Health
Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) affects up to 50% of women — and is significantly undertreated.
What's Happening
Unlike hot flashes that often improve over time, genitourinary symptoms tend to worsen without treatment. Declining estrogen causes thinning and dryness of vaginal and urinary tissues. Symptoms include dryness, discomfort, recurrent UTIs, and urinary urgency. Effective treatments exist — both systemic and local — and this is absolutely worth discussing with your provider.
Supplements Worth Considering
Omega-7 (Sea Buckthorn Oil)
Small studies show benefit for vaginal dryness and mucosal health. Generally well-tolerated.
Probiotics (vaginal flora support)
Lactobacillus strains may help maintain vaginal microbiome health, particularly if recurrent infections are an issue.
Hyaluronic Acid (topical or oral)
Topical vaginal gels with hyaluronic acid show good evidence for dryness relief. Oral hyaluronic acid has less evidence.
